Melissa holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles and is currently pursuing a M.A. in Theology as a distance education student at Augustine Institute. She currently resides in NYC with her husband, Stephen, and their daughter.

When Melissa first became friends with her now best friend and husband, Stephen Davies, they began combining their musical talents and mutual love of the Lord, leading praise and worship in NYC. As they led the music ministry of Frassati Fellowship NYC together, the seeds were planted for TreeLily Music. Melissa is overwhelmingly grateful that God has called her into music ministry and experiences a deep intimacy with her Lord when she ministers through the gift of music that God has given her.

Stephen C. Davies is a trained guitarist and audio engineer, whose love of music led him to begin studying guitar in 6th grade. As a quiet 7th grader, Stephen surprised and wowed his peers at the school talent show with his rendition of Jimi Hendrix’s “Star-Spangled Banner.” His passion for audio was born at the same age when he bought his cousins’ 4-track Fostex cassette tape recorder. He started making Christmas albums for friends and family. In high school, it quickly snow balled into having a small home studio to record friends’ bands, working at a local recording studio, and playing guitar in various bands. Stephen attended Duquesne University and studied music technology where he continued to learn about recording and music/guitar. After college, Stephen moved to NYC and worked at a recording studio for 10 years. He had the privilege to work with clients like Netflix, Ferrari, IBM, Sesame Street, HBO, NBC Sports, and others. Stephen began his leadership in ministry as the Young Adult Leader of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church - “The Actor’s Chapel” in NYC’s Times Square. Fittingly, it is here that Stephen first met his wife Melissa and their friendship began. Shortly after, Stephen began leading the music ministry of Frassati Fellowship NYC, which Melissa eventually led alongside him. It was from the many holy hours, retreats, and praise & worship nights that TreeLily grew. Stephen is thankful for the opportunity to use his music/creative gifts for building His Kingdom.

Prayer and the creation of music have been intrinsic aspects of Stephen and Melissa’s friendship, love, and marriage. It is their joy and mission to share God’s goodness, truth, and beauty through music.
